The invention relates to a sensor element, in particular a temperature sensor (5) which has a sensitive area (11), whose electric resistance changes under the influence of a temperature, to which the sensitive area (11) is subjected. The sensitive area (11) has a glass-ceramic fuse (15) of a starting material that contains at least one component which is covered at least predominantly with a surface metallization. The inventive temperature sensor (5) is particularly suitable for use at temperatures of above 1000 DEG C, whereby it exhibits resistance characteristics which are similar to those of a platinum resistance.
