<p>A selective inhibitor of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), which does not substantially inhibit endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), can be effectively used for the treatment, in human or other mammalian neonates, of the effects of complications during childbirth. Such effects include perinatal asphyxia and hypoxia-ischemia. A very useful example of such a selective inhibitor is 2-iminobiotin.</p> |
