Production of metallic permanent molds comprises forming mold parts of the mold using a lost model (2) supported in a mold and surrounded by a molding material which decomposes on contact with a molten cast metal. During the production of the model, the model is provided with channels (3a, 3b, 3c) for later receiving a cooling and/or heating fluid. Preferred Features: Each channel runs within the model close to its surface.
