A slam action latch (10) which is to be installed in a closure panel comprises a latching portion (11) having a central living spring (20) as a biasing means allowing the rotational movement of the latch portion around an attachment point (13) on a housing portion (12), the central living spring includes retaining means in the form of snap legs (18) which are maintained in an angled channel (19) located on the housing which limits the range of rotational motion of the latch portion of the assembly. The latching portion includes a bow-shaped spring (16) having a pawl member (15) wherein, the bow-shaped spring is resiliently deformed to be flat when allowing slam action closing of the latch and bowed when in the relaxed position. |
