<p>The method uses percolation of polluted water through fixed bed of solid particles comprising at least one layer of granular mineral material consisting at least partially of porous matter composed mainly of alkaline earth carbonate(s). Non-continuous and cyclic process comprises: (a) first stage during which the water to be treated is applied onto upper part of the fixed bed and percolates through the bed, to be recovered from under the bed; and (b) second stage during which air is passed through fixed bed from top to bottom, with a difference of air pressure created between the top and bottom part of bed. An Independent claim is also included for the installation for biological nitration of ammonia nitrogen contained in polluted water, comprising: (a) at least one enclosure comprising lateral walls and bottom, containing fixed bed; (b) the means allowing application, in non-continuous manner, of water to be treated onto top part of fixed bed as described; (c) means for collecting percolating water from under fixed bed; (d) aeration means capable of creating difference of air pressure between top and bottom parts of fixed bed, in such way as to cause passage of air from top to bottom of fixed bed; and (e) the means controlling functioning and stoppage of functioning of application and aeration means.</p> |
