PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printing ink composition which is adaptable to an aqueous varnish for overprint and reduces the misting during printing and to provide a coating method using the same. SOLUTION: This ink composition contains a resin prepared by reacting an alkyd resin having an oil length of 20-50% and a hydroxyl value of 50-250 with a lactone. The coating method comprises coating the composition with a thermosetting varnish for overprint and thermally curing the varnish.
