PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, from the viewpoint of energy consumption, of a refrigerator equipped with an automatic ice maker that the temperature in an ice making compartment is kept at a constant level even during ice making operation of the automatic ice maker or during a period when next ice making operation is waited after an ice storage box is filled and ice making operation is ended or under a state where a water supply tank is emptied and ice making operation is interrupted. SOLUTION: An automatic ice maker performs ice making operation until a specified ice storage quantity is reached and ends ice making operation when the specified ice storage quantity is reached to wait for next ice making operation. A chill regulator for regulating the quantity of chill being supplied to an ice making compartment by sensing the temperature in the ice making compartment is provided. The chill regulator controls the temperature in the ice making compartment, at the time of waiting ice making operation, to a below- zero point higher than that during ice making operation.
