PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing safely and easily a flame ball at an upper portion of a burner apparatus which fire ball is disposed outside a house or near a water surface for use in flame radiation. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 is adapted such that a gaseous fuel is injected from a main pipe 14 of a burner apparatus 10, and the gaseous fuel from a main pipe is combusted with pilot gas combusted by an ignition apparatus 60 disposed on the side of the main pipe to hereby manufacture a flame ball at an upper portion of the main pipe. On the main pipe, a pressure storage tank 82 is disposed in a fuel supply passage connected to a gaseous fuel source with an instantaneous opening/ closing solenoid valve 90 disposed on an output side of the pressure storage tank. To the ignition apparatus the gaseous fuel passage and a compressed air passage are connected through opening/closing valves 102, 106, and control means 130 is provided to instantaneously supply to the main pipe a pressure storage gaseous fuel from the pressure storage tank after forming a pilot flame with an air mixed fuel by the ignition apparatus. The pressure storage gaseous fuel supplied to the main pipe through a valve opening sequence by the foregoing control means is ignited for diffusion combustion in the atmosphere.
