PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an iron alkylenediamine-N,N'- disuccinate in high yield with extremely small amount of a by-product salt mixed therewith, and further to provide the iron salt obtained by the method, and a highly stable bleaching agent for treating a photosensitive material. SOLUTION: 1. This method for producing the iron alkylenediamine-N,N'- disuccinate is characterized in that when producing the iron alkylenediamine-N,N '-disuccinate by reacting an alkylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid or a salt thereof with an iron salt, the obtained reaction liquid is subjected to a desalting treatment. 2. The iron alkylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinate is a mixture with the iron-ammonium salt thereof and the iron-alkali metal salt thereof. 3. The treating agent for photograph uses the iron salt singly or as a mixture.
