biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method of preparing ajmaline in Rauwolfia serpentica tissue culturing. Rauwolfia tissue culturing is carried out in nutrient medium in the presence of bis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphinic acid melamine salt (melaphene) taken in concentrations 1x10-3-1x10-5 g/l. The use of bis-(hydroxymethyl)-phosphinic acid melamine salt (melaphene) ensures to carry out the process both in dark and in light. Culturing Rauwolfia serpentina in nutrient medium in the presence of S-adenosyl-methionine taken in concentrations 7-15 mg/l results to increase of ajmaline yield. In the presence of both bis-(hydroxy- -methyl)-phosphinic acid melamine salt (melaphene) and S-adenosylmethionine the yield of the end product is increased by 2-fold.
