PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing device which can sufficiently stir the liquid in an intermediate tank without increasing the circulating flow rate between a processing tank of the processing device and the intermediate tank when circulating the processing liquid stored in the processing tank through the intermediate tank outside the system and a method for circulating the processing liquid. SOLUTION: The processing device for photosensitive materials has the processing tank for storing the processing liquid, the intermediate tank disposed on the outside of the processing tank, a first liquid feed path for feeding the processing liquid in the processing tank to the intermediate tank and a second liquid feed path for feeding the processing liquid of the intermediate tank to the processing tank and has a third liquid feed path which is branched in the second liquid feed path and is connected to the intermediate tank.
