PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain e a cationic coating composition capable of fabricating a coating film excellent in corrosion resistance, in adherence to corrosion preventing steel sheets (zinc plated steel sheets), and in electrodeposition coating feature. SOLUTION: The cationic coating composition is characterized in that it contains a vehicle which is a polyol-modified amino group-containing epoxy resin which is produced by reaction of (A) an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalence of 180-2,500, (B) a polyol compound obtained by adding caprolactone to a compound containing plural active hydrogen groups, and (C) an amino group-containing compound.
