PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyarylene based polymer reduced in impurities, excellent in mechanical strengths and an electrical stability and having low permittivity. SOLUTION: The polyarylene based polymer shown by formula (1) is refined by treating with an organic acid aqueous solution. [In the formula, X shows the group shown by -CYY'- (wherein, Y and Y' are the same as or different from each other and each a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, halogenated alkyl group or aryl group) or the fluorenylene group.
