An electrical connector (1) of the present invention includes a contact (4) having a first retaining portion (41); and a housing (5) having an accommodating cavity (21) for accommodating the contact (4) and a second retaining portion (31) that confronts the first retaining portion (41) in such a manner as to prevent the contact (4) from moving in a direction for the contact (4) to be taken out from the cavity (21) when the contact (4) is in the state of being accommodated in the cavity (21).
