An undersea hydraulic male coupling member 10 comprises a cylindrical body having a stepped outer surface with a first section 19 and a probe section 13. A stepped bore extends through the body, and a poppet valve is located inside a larger diameter bore section, which has a conical valve head 40 which engages with a conical valve seat 33, and a valve actuator 41 extending into the smaller diameter bore. The poppet valve has a larger external diameter than the external diameter of the second section of the body. Preferably the male coupling member engages with a female coupling member, which has a receiving chamber having at least one radial seal 58, and a poppet valve in a central bore (62, fig 2) which also has a valve actuator 71. |
