PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a wear-resistant carbon part protected with an oxidation resistant silicon carbide layer which is not substantially oxidized at temperature >=700 deg.C, preferably >=1000 deg.C and in atmospheric condition or under the condition of dew point 30-70 deg.C. SOLUTION: The carbon part with the oxidation resistant protect layer is formed by impregnating a metal silicon to the part and baking in an inert atmosphere of temperature 1,600-2,400 deg.C. The protect layer macroscopically has a smooth surface with a curvature whose crosssection substantially is circle, and a surface roughness Ra of outer surface microscopically is less than 1.6μm. The part is preferably available to roll.
