摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an opening ratio and also suppress flickers in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal is held between a pair of substrates, one substrate is provided thereon with scanning lines and data lines, and pixel electrodes and switching elements arranged in a matrix form and also the other substrate is provided with a counter electrode arranged thereon a light- shielding layer facing the boundary area between adjacent pixel electrodes, and a data line drive circuit for controlling the voltage of a voltage of the pixel electrodes, and the data line drive circuit inverts the polarity of a voltage to be applied to at least two or more successive pixel electrodes among plural electrodes 1 to be connected with a single scanning line to the other pixel electrodes with respect to the potential of the counter electrode, and as for the light-shielding layer BM, the parts faced to the boundary areas between adjacent pixel electrodes 1 of the same polarity are made narrower in width than the parts, facing the boundary areas between adjacent pixel electrodes of opposite polarity.</p>
