PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mutagenesis-lowering agent capable of reducing mutagenesis of foods or beverages. SOLUTION: This mutagenesis-lowering agent contains polysaccharide- producing Bifidobacterium longum bacterial cell and/or bacterial cell component as an active component. The polysaccharide-producing Bifidobacterium longum has mutagenesis-lowering action. The foods or beverages are obtained by formulating foods or beverages with the polysaccharide-producing Bifidobacterium longum bacterial cell and/or bacterial cell component.
