<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely set the spectral line width of light. SOLUTION: The spectral line width variable light source device is provided with a semiconductor laser 7, which emits light of a single mode, optical modulators 14 and 35 which perform optical modulation of the light emitted from the semiconductor laser, based on an inputted modulating signal and output the light that performs optical modulation, a dummy random signal generator 15, which generates a digital dummy random signal and sends out the generated dummy random signal as a modulating signal to the optical modulator and a dummy random signal control part 16 which performs variable setting of a parameter, to characterize the dummy random signal generated in the dummy random signal generator, in order to perform the variable setting of spectral line width of the light outputted from the optical modulator.</p> |
