PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method in which the life (the breakdown) of an absorbent in an absorption can or the like can be monitored surely and precisely irrespective of the kind of a gaseous substance. SOLUTION: In the method, the breakdown of an absorption can, for air cleaning, used by a worker is monitored in such a way that air in a working environment is ventilated to an absorption can for monitoring and that the concentration of a substance, to be measured, in the air which passes the absorption can for monitoring is monitored.
