PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new vulcanization accelerator in place of a general-purpose vulcanization accelerator such as ethylenethiourea which has hitherto been used for a chloroprene-based rubber. SOLUTION: This vulcanization accelerator for the chloroprene-based rubber comprises one or more selected from the group consisting of specific compounds such as 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, dibenzothiadyl disulfide, a metal salt of the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, cyclohexylamine salt of the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolylsulfenamide or N-tert-butyl-2- benzothiazolylsulfenamide and sulfurs and guanidines. The rubber composition for the chloroprene-based rubber is obtained by compounding the chloroprene- based rubber with the vulcanization accelerator for the chloroprene-based rubber.
