PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acylaminohydroquinone not requiring a high-cost reagent, having a simple aftertreatment process, excellent productivity and a small amount of by-product. SOLUTION: This method for producing an acylaminohydroquinone of general formula (IV) (R1 and R2 are each independently an alkyl group; X is Br or I; R3, R4 and R5 are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; R6 is an alkyl group) is characterized in that a dialkoxyaniline of general formula (I) is reacted in the presence of an aqueous solution of a hydrohalogenic acid of general formula (II) to give an aminohydroquinone hydrohalide of general formula (III), which is not taken out and subjected to an acylation reaction in a two component (or more component) system of an organic solvent and water.
