PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoisting machine for elevator facilitated in the maintenance thereof with small man-hours by pivotally holding a sheave shaft with a rolling bearing, and providing a bearing box capable of effectively discharging the deteriorated grease inside while supplying the grease. SOLUTION: The bearing box 2 is provided close to an edge of a base 1, and the rolling bearing 3 pivotally holding a sheave shaft 4 is arranged. A grease filling passage 10 is provided at an upper side of the bearing box 2, and an outside discharge passage 12 is arranged from outside of a lower side of the bearing box 2 to the outside of the base 1, and an inside discharge passage 14 is arranged from inside of the lower side of the bearing box 2 to the outside of the base 1. With this structure the deteriorated grease is pushed out from inside of the bearing box 2 at positions close to the outside and the inside of the base so as to be effectively discharged through the outside discharge passage 12 and the inside discharge passage 14 by supplying the grease. Lubricating failure due to the staying of the deteriorated grease is thereby eliminated.
