PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a textile product having such durability as to maintain sufficient water-repelling and oil-repelling performance and stainproofness before and after subjected to cleaning operation. SOLUTION: A method for producing the above textile product comprises the following five consecutive steps: (1) a treatment liquid containing a water- repelling/oil-repelling agent is prepared; (2) the treatment liquid is adjusted to <=pH 7, pref. <=pH 3; (3) the resultant treatment liquid is applied to a textile product; (4) the resultant textile product is steamed; and (5) the textile product thus steamed is washed with water and dehydrated. The water-repelling/oil- repelling agent is in the form of an emulsion containing a fluorine-containing compound and an emulsifier, and in this case, the fluorine-containing compound is fluoropolymer and/or fluorine-containing low-molecular compound, and the emulsifier comprises an anionic surfactant with >=pKa 2, preferably >=pKa 4.
