Dermatological treatment apparatus for treating human skin with intense visible light is disclosed. The apparatus has a light source 40 within a cooling fluid duct 42, the cooling fluid duct 42 having a light transmissive region and a light reflective region disposed to reflect light from the light source through the light transmissive region. The light reflective region may be formed by a coating 54 applied to a region of the cooling fluid duct 42. Such a coating may, in preferred embodiments, include a reflective metal layer, and one or more additional layers. The light source may be flash lamp such as a xenon discharge tube. A control unit is typically included to provide controlled power to the light source. |
