PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photomechanical process giving higher printing durability as a photomechanical process for a planographic printing plate utilizing a silver complex salt diffusion transfer process. SOLUTION: In the photomechanical process for a planographic printing plate utilizing a silver complex salt diffusion transfer process, at least one thio-ether compound of the formula R1-(S-R2)n-S-R3 (where (n) is an integer of >=2; R1 and R3 are each alkyl or substituted alkyl, R1 and R3 may be the same or different; and R2 is alkylene in which another divalent group may exist) is contained as the silver halide solvent of a developing solution.
