PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the attachment of a connecting pipe to the proper place of a heat exchanger provided at a specified place. SOLUTION: A manifold for the heat exchanger is equipped with a first part 10 formed of a metallic piece having a required configuration and provided with two pieces of side walls 22 folded so as to be opposed, while at least one part of the side walls 22 is provided with a fitting hole 30 for attaching a pipe 32, and a second part 12 formed of a metallic piece having a required configuration and capable of being engaged with the side walls 22 of the first part to form a cover at the opposite side of the bottom 14 of the first part. One part of the first part or the second part is equipped with manifold plates 44 while the first part 10, the second part 12 and the pipe 32 are assembled by brazing. The use of the manifold is especially the application to heat exchangers for vehicles.
