PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain sheet folding in which a folding position can be kept constant and aligned without requiring high precise adjustment of the timing of releasing a sheet. SOLUTION: This folding apparatus consists of a serrated cutter cylinder 5, a folding cylinder 3, and a grip cylinder 1, cuts the sheet with the serrated cutter cylinder and the folding cylinder by synchronously rotating the respective cylinders, and folds the sheet in parallel with the center line of the grip cylinder by the folding cylinder and the grip cylinder, wherein a pressing means 15 which protrudes so as to be larger than a distance between the outer peripheries of the folding cylinder and the grip cylinder in the radial direction, and has elasticity is provided on the downstream outer-periphery of the grip cylinder brought into close contact with a grip mechanism 11 in the rotating direction of the grip cylinder and presses the cut sheet 71 which is moved with the rotation of the folding cylinder against the downward outer-periphery of the folding cylinder brought into close contact with an inserting blade mechanism in the rotating direction of the folding cylinder until the sheet is protruded by an inserting blade mechanism 33 before the sheet is released from retention.
