PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a heat developable image recording material by which a non-image forming layer can be formed using a coating fluid adjusted to a certain viscosity with good film forming property and edge peeling is not caused in working and cutting. SOLUTION: The method for producing a heat developable image recording material with an image forming layer and at least one non-image forming layer on one face of the base for heat development at a development temperature of 80-140 deg.C includes a step for forming at least one non-image forming layer using a coating fluid containing a coarse particular latex of 50-200 nm average particle diameter and a fine particulate latex of 5-30 nm average particle diameter as a binder in a mass ratio of 98:2 to 10:90, further containing a water-soluble polymer and having 15-150 mPa.s viscosity at 25 deg.C.
