PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring tape reduced in a manufacturing cost therefor and having a strong case. SOLUTION: An case ASSY (assembly) is provided by integral molding to form the whole case as one casing 2, and to form an opening 21 in one side thereof, a tape unit ASSY is provided by forming a shaft 32 and its peripheral portion by integral molding, by making a winding spring 6 self-contained in the shaft 32 to energize a tape 5 for winding, and by journaling a rotary drum 4 for winding the tape 5 in its periphery, and a tape unit 3 is inserted from the opening 21 provided in the case ASSY, i.e., the casing 2 to manufacture the measuring tape 1.
