PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic sensitive material which improves the ratio of sensitivity to radiation fog, does not considerably impair practical sensitivity in an ordinary exposure time (1/100 sec) and the practical reciprocity law (10-5-10 sec exposure time) and ensures reduced radiation fog. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic sensitive material with at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer on the base, an emulsion whose sensitivity in 3×10-9 sec exposure time is lower than that in 10-5 sec exposure time by a sensitivity unit of >=30 is contained. In the emulsion, the coefficient of variation in the equivalent circular diameter distribution of all grains is preferably 3-40% and flat platy silver bromide or silver iodochlorobromide grains having (111) faces as principal surfaces, >=3.0μm equivalent circular diameter and <=0.25μm thickness preferably occupy >=50% of the total projected area.
