PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact interferometer and a spectroscope capable of facilitating optical designing and reducing cost. SOLUTION: A complex refraction element 7 is a deformed coupled Wollaston polarizing prism in which two complex refraction crystals 7a and 7b are contacted with a top angleαand the optical axis inclines with angleεagainst the incidence surface 7c of the complex refraction crystal 7a. A light beam introduced in the complex refraction crystal 7a is split into two beams of an abnormal beam and a normal beam because of the inclination of the optical axis of the crystal 7a by angleε. The two beams introduced in a crystal 71b refract in the refraction surfaces between the crystals 71a and 71b. As the results, two beams emitted out of crystal 72a can be focused on a detector 3.
