PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite material that has consistent properties without anisotropic characteristics, can have a high content of a ceramic, can be used for manufacturing articles having a complex shape and can be used for mass production, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: This composite material comprising a resin and >=40 vol.% of a ceramic is prepared by immersing a ceramic porous material having a relative density of >=40% into a liquid resin, making the resin penetrate into the material by applying a vacuum treatment, and then curing the resin.
