PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect an approaching target by means of a high- resolution estimating means. SOLUTION: In signal processing based on a Unitary-ESPRIT method, it is judged whether a finally obtained characteristic value is a real number or not. If this judged results in NO, the number of running averages of an autocorrelation matrix of a reception signal is increased and the order of the autocorrelation matrix is reduced, or alternatively, the number of estimated wave sources in a signal spatial matrix obtained by characteristic value- characteristic vector expansion of the autocorrelation matrix after the running average is reduced by one. In this way, a condition, in which resolution is deteriorated and a wave source with a spread is considered as a plurality of wave sources, can be corrected. This way is applicable to the ESPRIT method similarly, and in this case, it is judged whether reprocessing is to be carried out or not on the basis of judgement whether the final characteristic value is far from one or not.
|
