PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method improved in quality of moving image and suppressing power consumption in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device, which is provided with a liquid crystal display element driven by applying a voltage to a pair of electrodes, and which is provided with a light source unit 111 capable of emitting light varying lighting duty, is characterized in that a time integral value of the brightness in the light source unit 111 is kept constant by a luminance and a movement detecting circuit 108 and a light source lighting duty selecting means, irrespective of the lighting duty factor.
