PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress noise when paper sheet carrying processing is not carried out, and to contribute energy-saving measure by reducing wasteful consumption of power. SOLUTION: When paper sheets 10 are not sent to a separating and supply part 63 for sending out downstream the paper sheets 10 one by one, suppression and the like of operation relating to suction by an auxiliary suction means 84 and vacuum-suction means 78, and of operation relating to rotation of a separating and supply belt 67 are performed to suppress unnecessary noise and wasteful consumption of power.
