PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tightening control technology for a screw cap for automatically dealing with the fluctuation of height positions of a capping head when the tightening is completed, which is generated following the differences in the dimension of a screw section of a screw cap or a container mouth on the total winding and tightening angle required for capping or the like, and more efficiently controlling the given speed reduction tightening. SOLUTION: In a screw cap tightening control for speed reduction controlling the rotating speed of a motor in the middle of capping operation and tightening the same by the given torque, a height position He of the capping head when the screw cap tightening is sensed, and based on the height position He of the capping head when the tightening is completed, a low speed switch position Hn whereon the high speed rotation control to the low speed rotation control in the following capping operation is computed so that the optimum dropping amount Ls of the capping head in the state of low speed rotation control is obtained to carry out the given speed reduction tightening control.
