PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible shaft where at least one coil among double or more coils has a roughly wound part at least partially having a clearance of a predetermined pitch, whereby the rotation of the flexible shaft can be smoothly transmitted with light load when it is inserted into a flexible sleeve forming a control cable, and rotated and driven in a curved state. SOLUTION: This flexible shaft 20 is composed of the double coil of an inner coil 21 and an outer coil 22, and the outer coil 22 is a coil where a roughly wound part and a closely wound part are mixed, that is, a part between unit coils 22a and 22b, a part between unit coils 22b and 22c, and a part between unit coils 22d and 22a among four unit coils, are approximately closely kept into contact with each other without a clearance, and a part between the unit coils 22c and 22d is opened by a predetermined interval R. An outer diameter of the inner coil 21 is approximately same as an inner diameter of the outer coil 22, and the inner and outer coils 21 and 22 are assembled in a closely contact state to each other when the inner coil 21 is inserted into the outer coil 22.
