PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a norbornadienyl derivative capable of being introduced into a polymer and excellent in optical properties and repetition durability. SOLUTION: This donor-acceptor type norbornadienyl derivative is represented by the general formula (1) [wherein, both or either one of D1 and D2 is an aromatic group or a heteroaromatic group having at least one substituent group selected from the group consisting of carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, amino group, sulfonyl group and thiol group and the other is hydrogen, a 1-10C alkyl group, a 2-10C alkenyl group, a 2-10C alkynyl group, an aromatic group or a heteroaromatic group; Rf is a 1-4C perfluoroalkyl group; and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each same or different and are each hydrogen, a 1-4C alkyl group, a 2-4C alkenyl group, a 2-4C alkynyl group, an aromatic group or a heteroaromatic group, with the proviso that R1 and R2 are not simultaneously hydrogen].
