PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of molten fly ash treated by chemicals as much as possible in an exhaust gas treatment of a melting furnace in which ash generated from waste or the like is heated, molten, cooled and solidified to decrease its capacity and make it harmless. SOLUTION: In a melting and exhaust gas treating system, the ash included in the waste is molten in the melting furnace 2 at a high temperature to make it slug a nd the exhaust gas of the melting furnace 2 is cooled 12 and then treated in a dust collector 13. A high temperature cyclone 21 and piping 22 for circulating particles such as sodium in the exhaust gas separated and recovered in the high temperature cyclone 21 to the melting furnace are disposed in an exhaust gas path from the outlet of the melting furnace 2 to the inlet of the dust collector 13 in the melting and exhaust gas treating system. The high temperature cyclone is disposed in an area of the exhaust gas temperature higher than vaporization temperature of volatile gas including solidum and potassium in the exhaust gas.
