METHOD OF PREPARING MICROSPHERE OF LITHIUM TITANATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing lithium titanate microsphere directly from used lithium titanate microsphere. SOLUTION: This method comprises the steps of making droplets from the solution containing Li and Ti components, solidifying them while keeping the droplet form, and firing them. In a concrete preferable example, the lithium titanate microspheres are prepared through the following procedure of 1) solution preparation step in which raw material lithium titanate powder is made into a solution which is concentrated to obtain a concentrated solution of lithium titanate; 2) gel sphere forming step in which the concentrated solution of lithium titanate obtained in 1) is dropped into a gelatinizing solvent where the dropped solution is gelatinized keeping droplet form followed by aging to obtain wet gel spheres which are immersed in a replacing solvent having higher surface tension than the above gelatinizing solvent where solvent exchange is taken place for the above gelatinizing solvent to be replaced by the above replacing solvent, and then the wet gel spheres are dried to form dry gel spheres; and 3) microsphere firing step in which the dry gel spheres obtained in 2) are fired to obtain the microspheres of lithium titanate.
