The supply provides a voltage (Vs) to a load (10). In normal operation, the load is supplied through a diode (11) and a capacitor (13) is charged through a limiting resistor (12). The capacitor voltage (Vc) is regulated to a reference voltage (Vr) by a comparator (20) which controls a switch (21), in practice a transistor. The capacitor voltage (Vc) is thus sufficient to operate the load (10) correctly but less than the maximum input voltage expected. During any short interruption in supply, the load (10) is supplied from the capacitor (13) through a diode (14).
|
