PURPOSE: A method for deciding paper jam is provided to automatically remove the jammed paper by deciding paper jam corresponding to the overload of a step motor and backwardly rotating the overloaded step motor. CONSTITUTION: A method for deciding paper jam comprises the steps of driving a line feed motor by a printing command or a reading command(S10), feeding paper by rotating a feeding roller with response to the driving of the line feed motor(S20), detecting if the line feed motor is overloaded(S30), and discharging the paper in the direction opposite to the paper feeding direction by backwardly rotating the line feed motor when the line feed motor is decided to be overloaded(S40).
