PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for washing a separation membrane type water cleaning cartridge, capable of restoring a filtering flow rate effectively by a simple structure and capable of shortening a washing time. SOLUTION: In the method for washing the separation membrane type water cleaning cartridge 4 equipped with a discharge port 18, an inflow port 20, a separation membrane 5 arranged so as to partition the cartridge into a portion on the side of the discharge port 18 and a portion on the side of the inflow port 20 and the chemical agent charging port 6 provided on the side of the inflow port 20 and formed so as to be freely attached to and detached from a water cleaning apparatus 1, the water cleaning cartridge 4 is separated from the water cleaning apparatus 1. A detergent 50 and a solvent or a washing liquid containing the detergent 50 is charged in the separation membrane type water cleaning cartridge from the chemical agent charging port 6. The first mechanical shock is applied to the separation membrane 5 and, after a definite time, the second mechanical shock is applied to the separation membrane 5.
