PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turret type side trimming apparatus which can easily control the oscillation of a knife in changing the traveling width and the movement in the width direction, and can rapidly and smoothly implements the action connecting a drive motor by turning a spare cutter unit to the operation side. SOLUTION: This turret type side trimming apparatus comprises a slide frame movable in the width direction of a work plate to be treated, an oscillation frame which is mounted on the slide frame and turned around the perpendicular extension of a cutting point of the work plate, a turnable frame which is mounted on the oscillation frame and turnable in the forward/backward direction in a range of at least 180 deg. around the center, a pair of cutter units which are mounted on the turnable frame symmetrical to each other across the center of the turnable frame with one cutter unit for a spare and with the other for the operation side, the drive motor which is disposed on the oscillation frame, and engaged with the cutter unit on the operation side to drive a cutting blade of the unit, and a clutching mechanism coupling/uncoupling the cutter unit on the operation side with/from the drive motor.
