PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head in which the forward end part of a common ink chamber is tapered without having a significant effect on the ejection characteristics of the nozzle opening. SOLUTION: A common ink chamber 26 is set, at the end part thereof, with a constricted region 36 where the cross-sectional area is reduced as compared with other parts. Inertance of an ink supply passage 27 interconnecting thereat is set lower than the inertance of other ink supply passages interconnecting at other part. The inertance is set to decrease toward the forward end and the volume of all pressure generating chambers 20 is equalized.
