POLYHYDROXYALKANOATE SYNTHASE, AND GENE ENCODING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new polyhydroxyalkanoate(PHA) synthases each derived from microorganisms capable of producing a PHA having new side chain structure, and to provide the corresponding DNAs respectively encoding the amino acid sequences thereof. SOLUTION: The two kinds of PHA synthase proteins each derived from Pseudomonas jessenii P161 strain (FERM P-17445) are provided. The objective PHA synthase genes respectively encoding the above two kinds of PHA synthases are provided. Each of the above genes imparts recombinant microorganisms with PHA synthesis ability.
