PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a high degree of printing and the stability of the quality of printing and to obtain printed matter of high quality. SOLUTION: In a web-fed rotary gravure press, a set of a plate cylinder 1 and an impression cylinder 2 constituting a printing unit of a printing part C in printing a master roll J are disposed in such a manner that the plate cylinder 1 is positioned on the upper side of the master roll J and that the impression cylinder 2 is positioned on the lower side of the roll, i.e., opposite to the plate cylinder 1, and the plate cylinder 1 and the impression cylinder 2 are driven integrally by a set of gears fitted to the respective shafts of the cylinders. A chamber type ink supply device 3 supplying ink to the plate cylinder 1 is provided on the upstream or downstream side of the direction of rotation, in the horizontal direction passing the center of the plate cylinder 1, and printing is made on the upper surface of the master roll J. In this constitution, a drying device D drying forcibly the printing surface subjected to printing is provided on the downstream side of the printing part C or between the printing units, and the master roll J is so carried in one direction as to run horizontally. |
