<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for decomposing a harmful polyhalognated compound, not creating a phenomenon that the re-synthesized harmful polyhalogenated compound is adsorbed by fine particles or powder and heavy metals or unburnt components remain in the fine particles or powder. SOLUTION: A high temperature radiator 3 is constituted of high temperature refractory such as SiC or high purity alumina. When a current is made to flow to a heating element 29, the heating element 29 generates heat and the high temperature radiator 3 is heated to a high temperature by this heat to emit radiant light from the inside thereof to heat fine particles in exhaust gas. The temperature of the high temperature radiator 3 can be adjusted by controlling the current flowing to the heating element 29. As the heating element, a heating element for ultrahigh temperature such as a silicon unit heating element or the like is used. The fine particles or powder in the gas stream can be heated to 1,400 deg.C or higher by the radiant light (radiant heat) from the high temperature radiator 3 and the surfaces of them can be brought to a molten or semi-molten state.</p> |
