PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller with special rolls by which troubles in rolling can be automatically avoided such as single gauge, meandering or the like. SOLUTION: Right and left asymmetry of mechanical crown is calculated based on roll bending, roll flattening, abrasive crown and heat crown in each pair of upper and lower work rolls 2, 3. Draft cylinders 16, 17 are controlled to regulate rolling reduction based on right and left asymmetry of mechanical crown.
